Patterns are normally manufactured from hard wood such as mahogany or resin, occasionally they will be made from aluminium, the choice of pattern material is dependant upon budget and life expectancy of the pattern.

Pattern equipment is self contained with built in frames, this allows moulds to be produced at a higher speed than traditional methods.
